Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Senior Architect - External Networks to define the strategic architecture for enterprise perimeter services and modern DMZ environments. This individual contributor role focuses on target-state designs, reference patterns, and technology roadmaps that enable secure exposure of applications, services, and APIs across internet, partner, and cloud ecosystems.

You will collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to influence architecture choices,

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, network security, or infrastructure architecture.
10+ years designing enterprise-scale network and security architectures.
Experience as a senior or lead architect for complex cross-functional initiatives.
Ability to translate technical concepts and risks into clear business outcomes.
Proven mentoring of architects and engineers and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Define architectural vision and target‑state for perimeter security and external connectivity.
Lead architecture roadmap across domains and align with product roadmaps and standards.
Evaluate designs, document trade‑offs, identify risks, and propose mitigations.
Provide technical leadership without direct reports and mentor staff.
Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to translate objectives into architecture outcomes.
Advance Zero Trust, least privilege, and identity‑aware access in cloud and on‑prem environments.
