Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Energy is seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer 3 to lead operational stability and lifecycle planning for the enterprise network across corporate, data center, and field environments.

The role requires strong routing/switching expertise, automation mindset, and the ability to coordinate complex changes with multiple teams. On-call responsibilities and mentorship are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible network engineering or operations experience.
• Experience with enterprise WAN routing (BGP/OSPF/EIGRP) and redundancy.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise LAN switching and high-availability designs.
• Hands-on experience with wireless networks and capacity planning.
• Experience with Cisco ISE, policy operation, and integration.

Responsibilities

• Own and support day-to-day network operations across WAN, LAN, wireless, and data center environments.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex network incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Manage and prioritize network ticket queues and work orders.
• Coordinate lifecycle activities including hardware/software refreshes and upgrades.
• Lead change management, validation, and post-implementation reviews.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, apps, and infra teams on deployments.
• Monitor health and performance to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain runbooks and support playbooks.
• Drive automation to reduce manual effort and accelerate changes.
• Coordinate with vendors on operational support and maintenance.
• Mentor Junior Network Engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
• Perform additional network operations tasks as assigned.
