Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and automate our global network infrastructure. You will lead the evolution from architecture through implementation, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across data centers and the Akamai platform.

You will develop automation templates using Python, Ansible, and Jinja2, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet network requirements and drive improvements in data flows and traffic patterns.

Qualifications

8+ years of relevant networking experience and a Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
Extensive experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
Knowledge of Data Center architectures including CLOS Fabric and overlay tech like VXLAN/EVPN.
Experience managing multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain Akamai's global network infrastructure.
Develop and maintain core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
Implement new hardware platforms and features within the automation framework.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data models and requirements.
Serve as SME for complex network issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and analysis.
