Qualifications

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a global network spanning office, data center, and co-location environments.

Joining the Network and Security Platform Management team, you will implement, operate, and improve network infrastructure supporting complex compute, research, and high-performance computing workloads. This hands-on role requires strong Cisco and Arista expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a practical approach to network automation.

You will work across Network Engineering, Data Center, Security, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable connectivity, improve operational consistency, and help scale a resilient global infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain scalable, highly available network infrastructure using Cisco and Arista platforms.
• Configure and support routing, switching, network fabrics, and connectivity across data center and co-location environments.
• Deploy and troubleshoot technologies including BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, and MPLS.
• Partner with Network Engineering on design reviews, implementation planning, testing, and production rollouts.
• Support network requirements for large-scale compute, HPC, and research environments.

WAN & Global Connectivity

• Implement and operate WAN infrastructure using IOS-XR, segment routing, SD-WAN, and multi-tenant network designs.
• Maintain reliable connectivity between offices, data centers, and co-location facilities.
• Troubleshoot routing, traffic flow, availability, and performance issues across distributed environments.
• Validate network changes against resiliency, scalability, and operational requirements.

Troubleshooting & Reliability

• Lead complex troubleshooting and break/fix efforts across routing, switching, firewalls, and WAN infrastructure.
• Use packet captures, logs, telemetry, and performance data to isolate faults and identify bottlenecks.
• Monitor network health and capacity, addressing emerging issues before they affect critical workloads.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring incidents.
• Perform network audits and maintain alignment with internal standards and configuration best practices.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

• Automate routine provisioning, configuration, validation, and operational tasks.
• Use Python, Ansible, Jinja2, and Git to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD workflows for network deployments.
• Maintain reusable scripts, configuration templates, and operational documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve monitoring, deployment safety, and network lifecycle management through automation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Coordinate with Data Center, Security, and DevOps teams on infrastructure changes and shared operational priorities.
• Support the rollout of strategic network initiatives through clear implementation plans and technical coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and share troubleshooting methods, platform knowledge, and operational best practices.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, procedures, and knowledge-base materials.
• Communicate incident status, risks, and technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience engineering and operating large-scale enterprise or data center networks.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Cisco and Arista hardware and software, including IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, and EOS.
• In-depth knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EVPN, VXLAN, and MPLS, including implementation and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with SD-WAN, segment routing, and multi-tenant network environments.
• Foundational scripting and automation skills, with familiarity using Python, Ansible, Jinja2, and Git.
• Strong diagnostic skills, including packet analysis, traffic-flow investigation, and performance tuning.
• Experience using network monitoring, telemetry, observability, and predictive analysis tools.
• Experience supporting network provisioning through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to work effectively in Agile and DevOps-oriented engineering environments.
• Experience with InfiniBand networking and large-scale HPC cluster environments.
• Strong communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and troubleshoot effectively during critical incidents.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule based in Dallas, Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNP or equivalent certification.
• CCIE or other advanced vendor certifications.
• Experience improving network operations through reusable automation, configuration templates, and automated validation.
• Experience coordinating network changes across global, mission-critical infrastructure.
