Onsite, Washington, DC Onsite 5 days per week Full-time · $120/hour Project: 6 months Clearance: Secret
Role overview
The Senior Network Engineer (CCIE) leads hands-on assessment, troubleshooting, remediation, and validation of enterprise network services supporting video and other time-sensitive applications.
This role requires deep routing and switching expertise, advanced multicast knowledge, and the ability to trace complex transport issues across network and encryption boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Assess network architecture, device configurations, routing domains, VLANs, dependencies, and operational constraints; compare documented designs with observed behavior.
- Diagnose and remediate multicast and video-transport issues through IGMP/PIM analysis, routing and switching review, packet capture, and traffic-path analysis.
- Analyze transport across encrypted links, including MTU, fragmentation, path symmetry, QoS markings, latency, packet loss, and multicast or unicast behavior.
- Develop corrective actions with engineering stakeholders, document proposed changes and rollback considerations, and implement approved changes during authorized maintenance windows.
- Plan and conduct end-to-end validation with relevant application and video systems, and support post-implementation issue resolution.
- Co-lead secure network integration design with a security engineer and review high-level and low-level designs, network diagrams, and future-state documentation.
- Maintain configuration records, technical findings, validation evidence, and sustainment guidance, and provide knowledge transfer to operational teams.
Required qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in enterprise routing and switching, multicast networking, packet-capture analysis, and video-transport troubleshooting.
- Experience analyzing IGMP and PIM behavior, multicast forwarding, VLAN and routing design, and network performance across complex paths.
- Ability to assess network changes, document technical findings, and validate end-to-end service behavior in production or mission-critical environments.
- U.S. person status, active Secret clearance, and ability to meet applicable secure-facility access requirements.
Work conditions
- Work takes place in a closed, secure network environment.
