Job summary

Virtual Service Operations in Lorton, VA is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage LAN/WAN and Azure networking. You will handle tier 3 escalations, monitor health, and document architectures.

Onsite role with relocation support; active TS/SCI clearance and DoD 8570 IAT II required. You will partner with cross-functional teams to enforce network security, performance, and capacity planning, and mentor junior engineers while developing comprehensive docs and training

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of networking engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience working as a Network Support Specialist or similar role with LAN/WAN and Azure networking expertise.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, VPN, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
• Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS) in Azure networking environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex network issues.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios) and Azure networking components.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage LAN/WAN infrastructure, including Azure networking components.
• Resolve complex network issues escalated from lower tiers with timely resolutions.
• Monitor network performance and implement corrective measures to maintain health and availability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network security policies in Azure.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis for Azure networking.
• Provide training to junior engineers and support staff on network technologies and Azure concepts.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to network designs and configurations.
