Job summary

ANG Signal is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a federal government client. The role requires delivering network design, operations, and leadership across multiple sites, with on-site presence in Washington, DC 1–2 days weekly.

You will mentor staff, guide projects end-to-end, and drive improvements in large-scale enterprise networks using Cisco/Aruba hardware and security solutions.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in Network Engineering, with 6+ years as SME/Sr. Network Engineer in large-scale enterprise.
  • Deep knowledge of complex routing, switching, remote access, wireless and network security.
  • Hands-on with MPLS, BGP, OSPF and other RS technologies.
  • Experience migrating and optimizing multi-site networks; Cisco/Aruba hardware.
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, Aruba Clearpass; Firepower and Fortigate firewalls.
  • Strong communication, leadership and project-driving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; CCIE/CCNP certification preferred.

  • Provide technical leadership, training and support to project teams.
  • Design, implement and test network solutions; maintain stable operations.

ANG SIGNAL is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team supporting our federal government client. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for supporting the federal agency's network infrastructure and services, day-to-day operations, as well as providing technical leadership on a variety of network projects. The Senior Engineer must have considerable specialist skills and knowledge and provide technical leadership, training and support to team members.

This is a customer-facing role and the candidate must be able to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences with different knowledge backgrounds. As this is a hybrid position, candidates will need to be on site in Washington, DC 1-2 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of network experts to support a service provider scale network that connects multiple high-performance computing sites and data centers, and provides network services to over 30, 000 users nationwide
  • Provide support and technical leadership to execute multiple mission critical projects and maintain a stable operations environment
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the network, troubleshoot complex and escalated network problems and coordinate with the various department administrators to facilitate connectivity issue resolution
  • Design and implement network solutions and participate in lab testing of new technologies
  • Engage with both customer and development personnel to maintain open lines of communication
  • Participates in presentation meetings and weekly meetings
  • Effectively support the coordination of project development from kickoff briefing to delivery, under the guidance of Managing Director
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures, maintenance plans and provide status reports as required by the upper management. Participate in data calls and other operational and maintenance tasks
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the team, government client, senior management and other stakeholders
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of functional experience in a Network Engineering role, with at least 6 years of experience as a SME/Sr. Network Engineer in a large-scale enterprise network environment
  • In-depth knowledge of network design to include complex routing and switching, remote access, wireless and network security solutions
  • Strong knowledge of MPLS, BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
  • Demonstrated experience migrating, consolidating, and optimizing large-scale, multi-site network architectures.
  • Cisco and Aruba routers and switches hands-on experience
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, Aruba wireless and Clearpass
  • Experience configuring and running Cisco Firepower and Fortigate firewalls
  • Ability to communicate designs and network concepts to a variety of audiences, including peers and customers, verbally and in writing
  • General understanding of project management processes and terminology
  • Strong leadership skills, personal drive, and ability to see projects through to execution in a matrixed environment
  • Strong organizational and mentoring skillsPossesses strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Professional certification (e.g. CCIE, CCNP)
