Job summary

Reporter Newspapers is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to secure enterprise networks, manage incidents, and drive vulnerability remediation. The role spans Azure networking, WAFs, and 802.1X across 300+ devices in a regulated environment. You will mentor engineers and communicate complex issues to executives.

The position is hybrid, based in Mechanicsville, VA, with an in-person interview requirement and a duration of 10+ months. Prior AZ-500/AZ-700 familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience securing enterprise networks and multi-vendor environments.
• Strong incident response, investigations, log analysis and threat intel.
• Proficient with SIEMs such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel.
• Vulnerability management and scanning tools (Nessus/Tenable/Def).
• Experience with AD, MFA, CA, and certificate management.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust, NIST 800-53/CSF and CIS Benchmarks.
• Hands-on with Palo Alto, F5 BIG-IP, Azure WAF and VPN/remote access.
• Ability to communicate complex issues to technical and executive audiences; mentor juniors.
• Presents with in-person interview; hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Secure and maintain enterprise networks and security controls.
• Lead incident response, investigations and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor events, perform log analysis and threat hunting across devices.
• Collaborate with teams to implement Zero Trust and CA/ID protections.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and communicate findings to executives.
