Job summary

Sysco Payroll, Division of Sysco Resources Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across global data centers and remote sites. You will work with architecture and security teams to ensure uptime, security, and scalability.

The role requires hands-on configuration, performance monitoring, and incident response, with on-site presence 3–4 days per week in the Houston area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, engineering, computer science or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in network engineering including configuration, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise networks.
• CCNP or CCIE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage vendors and service providers to maintain uptime and support.
• Be a technical escalation point and participate in on-call rotations.

Job Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure across the enterprise. This role focuses on hands-on technical work including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and configuration management. The Senior Network Engineer works closely with architecture and security teams to ensure operational excellence and supports the stability, scalability, and security of all network services.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade network infrastructure across global data centers and remote sites. (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, etc.)
• Monitor and optimize network performance using industry-standard tools to ensure high availability and reliability across diverse time zones.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving routing, switching, firewalls, wireless systems, and connectivity between international locations.
• Execute network changes and updates following change management processes.
• Support the administration of Cisco network gear along with Palo Alto, Checkpoint, and F5 solutions.
• Perform firmware upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in line with change management protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including architecture, security, and cloud operations—to support integrated infrastructure projects.
• Work with vendors and service providers to maintain uptime and support.
• Document configuration standards and network diagrams to support scalability and incident response.
• Provide input on network designs and participate in the evaluation of new technologies.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and assist in audits or remediation tasks.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for network-related incidents and problems.
• Participate in on-call rotation and global incident escalations to ensure 24x7 uptime coverage.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required formal education

Experience

5-7 years of experience in network engineering, including configuration, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise networks.

Licenses/Certifications Required

• Professional Industry Certifications in the area of Network infrastructure, such as CCNP, CCIE

Licenses/Certifications Preferred

• Industry Certifications in Networking, Cyber, wireless, telecom, or other infrastructure areas

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms (Catalyst, Nexus)
• Configuration and support of Cisco and/or Juniper routers and switches
• Network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark)
• Firewall administration (e.g., Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA)
• Load balancer configuration and troubleshooting (F5 LTM/GTM)
• Wireless networking (e.g., Cisco, HP/Aruba)
• IP addressing and protocols: IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DNS, DHCP
• VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP, port-channeling
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
• Network change and incident management processes
• Familiarity with SD-WAN and basic cloud networking concepts (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Network monitoring and packet analysis tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow)
• Solid understanding of global WAN technologies, VPN, and remote access infrastructure
