Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to manage day-to-day network infrastructure and server operations while providing Level 3 IT support.

The role reports to the VP of Information Technology in the IT Department based in Philadelphia, PA. Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable networks, monitoring performance, and maintaining security, with daily collaboration across teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years hands-on network engineering experience.
• Advanced routing protocols and switching (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP; VLAN, STP, VTP).
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security tools (Cisco preferred).
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, Site 24x7).
• Strong cloud networking knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SD-WAN.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, configure, implement and support scalable, secure network solutions.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements for legacy systems.

• Oversee configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, and VPNs.
• Ensure compliance with security standards such as PCI.
• Proactively identify and resolve network performance issues and conduct root cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain detailed network documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and projects.
• Work with vendors to ensure timely deliverables and positive outcomes.
• Resolve incidents and report incidents in daily scrum.
• Infrastructure installation and maintenance, patch management for network equipment and servers, and configuration of all hardware in Zoho Site 24x7.
• Daily monitoring of Zoho Site 24x7 and open tickets based on outages.

Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for day-to-day network infrastructure and server operations as well as assisting with IT HelpDesk as a Level 3 resource.

Essential Functions

• Network Design & Implementation:
  • Plan, configure, implement and support scalable, and secure network solutions to meet business needs.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements for legacy systems.
• Network Administration:
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud-based networks.
  • Oversee configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), and VPNs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, such as PCI.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization:
  • Proactively identify and resolve network performance issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for network outages and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Generate reports on network performance and security metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and projects.
• Work with vendors to ensure timely deliverables and positive outcomes.
• Work to resolve incidents and report incidents in daily scrum.
• Responsible for infrastructure installation and maintenance, patch management for network equipment and servers, Opti9 backup and Opti9 DR Testing, and configuration of all hardware in Zoho Site 24x7.
• Responsible for the daily monitoring of Zoho Site 24x7 and open tickets based on outages.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level networks.
• Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and switching technologies (e.g., VLAN, STP, VTP).
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security tools (e.g., Cisco preferred).
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, Site 24x7).
• Strong understanding of cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and SD-WAN technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Certifications

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher (e.g., CCIE).
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
• AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty (or similar cloud certifications).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

The employee may be required to perform the essential functions of the job during evening and weekend concerts and/or events.

• Must be able to sit, stand, lift, carry weight, kneel, bend, and grip tools during a full 8 hour shift.
• Must be able to work all shifts, and weekends/holidays as required.
• Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite.
