Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Network Engineer based in the United States.Join an infrastructure engineering team building and operating high-performance networks that power advanced GPU computing and AI workloads. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, deploy, and maintain networking fabrics that support large-scale model training, distributed inference, and reliable customer connectivity. You will work across InfiniBand and RoCE technologies, data center switching and routing, and wide-area networks connecting multiple sites and customer environments. Your expertise will help ensure network performance, scalability, security, and operational resilience as infrastructure and customer demands grow. Collaborating with infrastructure operations and network monitoring teams, you will drive automation, capacity planning, and effective incident resolution. This remote US-based role offers the opportunity to tackle complex networking challenges at the intersection of data center infrastructure and GPU-intensive computing.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will own key aspects of network architecture, deployment, and operations, ensuring reliable connectivity and optimized performance across GPU clusters, data centers, and customer environments.

  • Design, configure, and optimize InfiniBand and RoCE network fabrics for GPU training workloads and distributed inference.
  • Manage switching, routing, and customer network architectures, including VLANs, VRFs, and VPCs.
  • Configure and maintain BGP peering, public IP address space, anycast routing, and DDoS protection capabilities.
  • Design and implement customer connectivity solutions, including cross-connects, dedicated links, VPNs, and SD-WAN.
  • Maintain network automation, configuration management systems, and source-of-truth tools to improve consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Network Operations Center teams on monitoring, alerting, incident response, and the development of operational runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues across layers 1 through 7, identifying root causes and implementing effective, lasting solutions.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
  • Lead network capacity planning to support infrastructure expansion, fleet growth, and customer commitments.
  • Support security and compliance initiatives, including SOC 2 audits and customer security reviews.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and data center operations teams to improve network reliability, performance, and scalability across environments.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive network engineering experience, deep expertise in high-performance data center networking, and the ability to manage complex infrastructure in demanding operational environments.

  • At least 7 years of network engineering experience, ideally within data center or service provider environments.
  • Deep technical expertise in InfiniBand or RoCE, particularly RoCEv2, including congestion control and NCCL tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN.
  • Hands-on experience with networking platforms from Arista, NVIDIA Mellanox/Spectrum, or Cisco.
  • Advanced networking certification such as CCIE, JNCIE, NCIE, or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing, deploying, or operating GPU cluster networks at a scale of thousands of GPUs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software-defined networking and automation tools such as Ansible, Python, Nautobot, or NetBox is an advantage.
  • Experience with multi-site wide-area networks, network peering, and Internet Exchange participation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA Cumulus, SONiC, or other open networking stacks is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex network issues and improve system reliability.
  • Ability to maintain clear technical documentation and collaborate effectively with network operations and infrastructure teams.
  • A proactive approach to capacity planning, automation, security, and continuous operational improvement.
Benefits
  • Remote work: Full-time remote opportunity for candidates based in the United States, with a hybrid option in Pleasanton, California.
  • High-impact technical work: Opportunity to design and operate networking infrastructure supporting large-scale GPU clusters and advanced AI workloads.
  • Advanced technology exposure: Hands-on work with high-performance networking technologies, data center fabrics, and modern automation tooling.
  • Infrastructure ownership: The opportunity to influence network architecture, operational practices, scalability, and reliability.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with network engineering, infrastructure operations, and Network Operations Center teams.
