Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced Network Engineer in a hybrid role to design, document, and deploy LAN architectures across campus, manufacturing, and facilities globally.

You will lead high-level design reviews, test and certify Cisco gear, and implement SDA-based solutions while ensuring uptime and reliability. The role expects 10+ years of experience, CCNP/CCIE preferred, and strong scripting/automation capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent required.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Cisco Certifications – CCNP/CCIE Preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of Cisco LAN infrastructure and related systems including Catalyst 9k switches, Catalyst Center, and ISE.
• Understanding of networking and IP protocols (OSPF, BGP), Cisco SD-Access and Cisco Industrial switches.
• Knowledge of Cisco routing & switching, IOS-XE Software.
• Experience with SRE principles.
• Familiarity with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible).
• Experience with monitoring/observability technologies (Syslog, SNMP, Telemetry).
• Knowledge of Palo Alto products (Firewall, Prisma Access).
• Office tools: Visio, Excel, SharePoint, Teams.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Quality standards and process improvement mindset.
• Some travel to Dearborn may be required.

Responsibilities

• Developing/publishing Network Architecture and Technical Documentation (HLD/LLD/NRFU).
• Participate in Test, Certify and Release of Cisco Switches and firmware for global deployment.
• Provide Level 3/4 support and coordinate new installation of routers and switches.
• Work with SDN/CDN- SDA solutions for campus and manufacturing environments.
• Test network redundancy, resilience, and failover to ensure uptime.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge sharing to Network Planning & Operations teams.
• Develop tools to automate deployment, administration and monitoring of networks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system operability.

In this position...

This opportunity is within the Network Services organization - Local Area Network (LAN) Engineering which is responsible for delivering LAN Solution/Architecture for Campus, Engineering, Warehouse and Manufacturing Facilities globally.

What you'll do...

• Developing/Publishing Network Archiecture and Technical Documentation (HLD – High Level Design, LLD- Low Level Design, NRFU – Network Ready For use )

• Participate in Test, Certify and Release of Cisco Switches, software, and firmware for global network deployment.

• Provide Level 3/4 supports/troubleshoots network issues and coordinates new installation of such items as routers and switches.

• Software Defined Networking (SDN) specially Cisco's Software Defined Access (SDA) Solution for Campus/Manufacturing environments.

• Develop the solution to conducts tests of network redundancy, resilience, and failover of network elements to ensure up-time standards are fully achieved.

• Provide technical consultation and knowledge sharing/Training to Network Planning & Network Operations teams.

• Work with other Network Service teams to Develop tools to automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of a network system.

• Works with cross functional teams to enhance and improve system/network operability.

You'll have...

• In-depth knowledge of Cisco LAN infrastructure and related systems including Catalyst 9k switches, Catalyst Center, and Identity Services Engine (ISE)

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams

• Strong project management skills, organizational skills, personal discipline, interpersonal relationship skills and communication skills (written and oral)

• Strong process mindset – ability to create, improve, and follow effective & sustainable processes.

• Some amount of travel to Dearborn is required on need basis for lab testing.

This position is a salary grade 7-8 and ranges from $99,600-$192,900.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
