Job summary

PAE Government Services Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for critical network capabilities support to the Department of Defense. The role entails design, build, and troubleshooting of network architecture and security.

Qualified candidates should have extensive experience, including CCNP certification, network engineering, and a Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent experience. The position requires a Top Secret clearance and offers a salary range of $250,000.

Job description

Purpose and Impact

In support of DISA, the Intel and Cyber Division is assembling a team to support a program that provides critical network capabilities to the Department of Defense. The team will be responsible for prototype development, test, and demonstration, and may be the long‑term asset for integration, deployment, and sustainment as needed. Candidates should be critical thinkers, detail‑oriented, work‑independent yet collaborative, and able to respond quickly to new problems.

Essential Responsibilities

Senior Network Engineer provides senior‑level contribution, operating and troubleshooting autonomously. Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build and troubleshoot network and network security architecture.
  • Analyze and develop new hardware requirements and prepare specifications for acquisitions.
  • Provide engineering escalation support for all network and network security operations, including LAN/WAN operations, automation tooling, and security appliances.
  • Coordinate with Information Assurance Security Engineers to validate designs against required security controls and maintain Authority to Operate of each enclave; implement and maintain DISA STIG requirements.
  • Create, review and update technical documentation for integration projects and full implementation documentation for deployment and sustainment of network equipment and services.
  • Identify and diagnose complex performance, security, and technical issues.
Minimum Requirements
  • CCNP certification.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing IS‑IS and/or OSPF networks.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing MP‑BGP underlays and overlays.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing MPLS networks (RSVP‑TE, LDP, SR‑MPLS).
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing routing policy and redistribution.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing DMVPN and/or SD‑WAN.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing different flavors of STP.
  • Experience standing up and troubleshooting new circuits with fault isolation to CE equipment, demarc, and/or carrier.
  • Experience building, troubleshooting, and testing network security technologies, such as SSH, WAN MACsec, IPSec, RADIUS, TACACS+, firewall NAT, security policies, and end‑point security.
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Travel up to 20%.
  • Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field or five additional years of network engineering experience.
  • Ten years of network engineering experience with at least three years of design architecture and implementation.
  • DoD 8570.01‑M IAT‑II or IAM‑I baseline certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience designing and building network and network security architecture for integrated underlay and overlay partitions.
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and troubleshooting Palo Alto and/or FMC/FTD NGFWs with DPI.
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and troubleshooting ISE or other end‑point security appliances.
  • Experience with network tooling (Cisco NSO, Catalyst Center, Splunk, StealthWatch).
  • Experience automating tasks using tools/scripts (Python, TCL).
  • Extensive experience with Cisco IP telephony products.
  • Experience with Type1 encryption devices (KG175X, KG142).
  • Experience developing IT checklists, SOPs, guides, etc.
  • Experience deploying DISA STIGs and conducting Government network assessments.
Compensation Details

Salary range: $250,000 (good‑faith estimate; actual compensation may vary).
