Qualifications

Responsibilities

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise network infrastructure, network security, and mission-critical IT operations at Joint Base Andrews, MD. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting secure network environments, including Cisco routing and switching platforms, data center infrastructure, and classified network systems. This position will be primarily onsite at Joint Base Andrews, MD, requires an active Secret clearance, and operates Monday – Friday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM ET, with ad-hoc telework eligibility and an on-call rotation!

Responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer:

• Deploy, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise routing and switching infrastructure, including Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms
• Support high-availability data center networking environments, ensuring reliable connectivity, performance, and system redundancy
• Configure and maintain Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), and network access control policies
• Administer F5 BIG-IP load balancers (LTM/GTM) to support application availability, traffic distribution, and network performance
• Install, configure, and maintain TACLANE/HAIPE encryption devices supporting classified and unclassified network environments
• Implement network security controls, vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG compliance across enterprise network devices
• Troubleshoot complex network outages, connectivity issues, routing problems, and infrastructure performance degradation
• Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using SNMP-based monitoring tools such as Cacti
• Configure and troubleshoot multicast routing protocols, including PIM and IGMP, supporting enterprise network services
• Identify network vulnerabilities, single points of failure, and opportunities to improve redundancy and fault tolerance
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams and DoD network operations stakeholders to resolve technical incidents and maintain operational readiness

Qualifications for the Senior Network Engineer:

• Active Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent military/commercial experience
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, enterprise networking, or data center network administration
• Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II or III certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE
• Cisco CCNA or CCNP Enterprise certification
• Strong experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise routing and switching infrastructure
• Experience supporting secure, mission-critical network environments and high-availability infrastructure
• Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and network security principles
• Experience troubleshooting complex network connectivity, performance, and infrastructure issues
• Familiarity with network monitoring, configuration management, and technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center), and Cisco ISE
• Experience administering F5 BIG-IP load balancers, including LTM and GTM
• Experience configuring and maintaining TACLANE/HAIPE encryption devices, including KG-175D and KGV-72
• Knowledge of DISA STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, and DoD network security compliance
• Experience with multicast routing protocols, including PIM-SM, PIM-DM, and IGMP
• Familiarity with SNMP monitoring platforms, Cacti, and network performance analysis
• Experience with RSA Authentication Manager and multifactor authentication for network infrastructure
• Scripting and network automation experience using Python or Ansible
• Familiarity with Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and software-defined networking architectures
• Understanding of IPv6, dual-stack networking, and advanced routing protocols
• Experience supporting classified networks, air-gapped environments, or SIPRNet infrastructure
• Experience coordinating network changes, maintenance windows, and incident response within DoD environments

Compensation for the Senior Network Engineer includes:

• Salary: $120,000 - $145,000 *Depending on level of experience*
