Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure.

You will drive evolution from architecture through implementation, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across diverse environments. Responsibilities include developing network templates with Jinja2, integrating new hardware into automation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and requirements.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience in network engineering.
• Extensive IP network design experience with scalable BGP routing.
• Experience with Data Center architectures (CLOS Fabric) and overlay technologies (VXLAN/ EVPN).
• Experience managing multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms (BIRD, FRR, Cumulus).
• Ability to develop and manage network configuration templates using automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain our global network infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain Akamai's core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implement new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for complex network issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and analysis.
