Job summary

ASEC is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to support mission-critical systems at NAS Fallon, NV. You will lead configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and protection of network infrastructure in a DoD environment.

On-site role requiring Top Secret clearance; responsibilities include implementing STIGs, managing switches/routers/firewalls, conducting vulnerability assessments with ACAS/SCAP, and coordinating with cyber and system administration teams to maintain secure, reliable

Qualifications

  • 9 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise and tactical network infrastructures.
  • CCNP Enterprise, Security, or Data Center and Linux+ or equivalent OS cert; one of several listed security certifications.
  • Experience in network engineering, architecture, or administration, including computer systems administration.
  • Extensive DoD IAVMP experience and ability to implement DISA STIGs with ACAS/SCAP.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and cross-team coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and proxies.
  • Implement secure configurations per DISA STIGs and guidance; ensure data segmentation and access controls.
  • Design and optimize physical and logical network layouts, routing, and data separation.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, identify root causes, and apply fixes.
  • Monitor availability and performance; propose reliability and security improvements.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments using ACAS/SCAP; remediate findings with cyber teams.
  • Support IAVMP actions, track compliance, and coordinate with stakeholders on risk actions.
  • Maintain baselines, inventories, and network diagrams; manage change control processes.
  • Coordinate with government and IT teams to ensure mission operations; mentor junior staff.

What You’ll Do:

As the Senior Network Administrator, you will support mission critical systems at NAS Fallon, NV. You will provide hands-on technical leadership in the configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and protection of network infrastructure supporting Navy training and mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, administer, and maintain network infrastructure, including managed switches, routers, firewalls, proxy servers, cryptographic devices, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Implement and maintain secure configurations for network devices and associated operating systems in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Design and implement physical and logical network configurations, including network segmentation, routing, access controls, and need-to-know separation of data.
  • Troubleshoot complex network connectivity, routing, switching, and performance issues; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor network availability, capacity, and performance; recommend improvements to support reliability, security, and mission requirements.
  • Perform and support vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), applicable DISA STIGs, and the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker.
  • Remediate vulnerabilities, implement required technical controls, and document corrective actions in coordination with system administrators and cybersecurity personnel.
  • Support the DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management Program (IAVMP), including evaluating applicable directives, implementing corrective actions, and tracking compliance.
  • Maintain network configuration baselines, device configuration backups, equipment inventories, operating procedures, and physical and logical network diagrams.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, equipment replacements, and configuration changes through established change management processes.
  • Coordinate with Government stakeholders, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical teams to support network integration and mission operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to network support personnel.

What You’ll Bring:
Required Qualifications:
  • You have 9 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise and tactical network infrastructures. A bachelor's degree in a STEM related area of study may be considered in lieu of the full 9 years of experience.
  • Required for this position: CCNP Enterprise, Security, or Data Center, and an operating system certification (Linux+ preferred). In addition, one of the following industry certifications is required: SecurityX/CASP+, CCNA, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, GDSA, GFACT. Please upload copies of any relevant certifications you hold.
  • Experience in network engineering, architecture, or administration, including experience supporting computer systems administration.
  • Extensive experience supporting the DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management Program (IAVMP).
  • Demonstrated experience configuring, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, and related network infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, access control lists, and copper and fiber infrastructure, including Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS and experience or training with Cisco NX-OS.
  • Networking knowledge equivalent to Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), with the ability to independently resolve complex network issues.
  • Experience implementing DISA STIGs and using ACAS and SCAP tools to assess and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Possess applicable computing environment certification or documented vendor training, as required by the contract.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly, maintain accurate documentation, and coordinate work across technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting classified networks, Special Access Program environments, or military training systems.
  • Experience with Multi-Level Security environments.
  • Experience supporting network authorization documentation and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities.
  • Experience leading network upgrades, troubleshooting efforts, and infrastructure improvement projects.
