Job summary

American National is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst II to join the Annuity Software Development team in League City, TX. The role focuses on building enterprise applications using .NET (VB.NET/C#), integrating with SQL Server, DB2, and RESTful APIs, and collaborating with business partners in an Agile environment.

The position is onsite, reports to Lead Systems Analyst, and offers a comprehensive benefits package, 401(k), PTO, and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years’ hands‑on experience developing enterprise applications using .NET, VB.NET and/or C#, object-oriented programming, and SQL.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, SSMS, database design, stored procedures, and data integration; DB2 experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs and application integration concepts.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Exposure to Agile delivery environments and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using .NET technologies, including VB.NET and/or C#.
• Build and support data-driven solutions involving SQL Server, DB2, stored procedures, SSIS, and database connectivity.
• Integrate applications with third-party systems and RESTful APIs.
• Develop and maintain error handling, logging, and notification processes to support reliable production operations.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product teams, stakeholders, and Agile delivery teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including participation in an on-call support rotation.
• Document technical processes, workflows, and solutions while ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
