Job summary

EWI in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer (NDE) to lead advanced nondestructive evaluation projects. This customer-facing role focuses on applying NDE methods within robotic, automated, and in-line manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with inspection systems, proficiency in data processing and Python, and a background in production environments such as welding, additive manufacturing, or composites.

Qualifications

• Five or more years applying inspection, measurement, or sensing technology in a manufacturing, laboratory, or applied research environment.
• Demonstrated experience implementing inspection or measurement systems within automated equipment, robotic cells, or production lines.
• Experience with at least one NDE modality and practical familiarity across several.
• Proficiency in data analysis and programming to build acquisition and processing tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for client companies on inspection and NDE projects and lead teams.
• Visit client facilities to assess inspection needs and opportunities for automated in-process inspection.
• Translate client requirements into project scopes and cost/schedule estimates.
• Develop data pipelines, apply signal/ image processing and ML where valuable.
• Interface inspection systems with plant control and quality data systems; support process feedback.
