Job summary

Short-Elliott-Hendrickson, Incorporated in Brainerd, MN, seeks a Civil Engineer (PE) to plan, develop, and direct multiple municipal projects, while maintaining key client relationships and contributing to business development.

The role requires travel, collaboration with municipal agencies, mentoring staff, and reporting to the Brainerd office 3–4 days per week. A PE license in MN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain.
• Established relationships with municipal clients or potential clients in MN.
• Experience in project management and client management; proposal work.
• Ability to scope, budget, coordinate sub‑consultants and multi‑project work.
• Experience presenting at municipal/public meetings; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct multiple projects for varied clients.
• Manage SEH design and construction phase services on several projects.
• Maintain strong client relationships during development and after.
• Understand funding, design standards, and regulatory programs; participate in CE/associations.
• Represent SEH with agencies at project and public meetings.
• Prepare project approaches, scopes, and fees; present proposals and lead teams.
