Job summary

EPM, based in Atlanta, GA, seeks an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate residential loan applications and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines. You will work with FHA, VA, USDA, conventional, and Non-QM products in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mortgage underwriting or mortgage lending experience.
• Active DE/CHUMS and LAPP/SAR certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of manual underwriting experience.
• Recent wholesale underwriting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Non-QM loan products.
• Working knowledge of RESPA, TILA, Dodd-Frank, and investor guidelines.
• Proficiency with automated underwriting systems and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a wide range of mortgage loans (FHA/VA/USDA/Non-QM).
• Review credit, income, assets and documents to determine eligibility and risk.
• Ensure files meet HUD, FHA, investor, regulatory guidelines and overlays.
• Request and evaluate additional documentation as needed.
• Document rationale for approvals or denials.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to loan officers and partners.
• Collaborate with operations, clients, and brokers to ensure timely processing.
• Meet SLAs for turnaround times and file quality.
• Provide customer service by addressing underwriting questions and documentation requests.
• Support additional underwriting needs as required.
