Job summary

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter III to render timely, accurate underwriting decisions on mortgage loan applications. You will analyze capacity, credit history, capital and collateral in line with policy, investor guidelines, and laws.

The role requires experience with conventional FNMA/FHLMC, FHA DE, VA LAPP/SAR, and strong Microsoft Office skills. Excellent communication and organization are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 10+ years underwriting experience or combination of mortgage processing and underwriting.
• Conventional FNMA & FHLMC experience.
• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) approved.
• VA LAPP/SAR experience.
• Knowledge of Construction One Time and Two Time Close underwriting.”
• Knowledge of Jumbo Non-Conforming Service Release underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Render a final underwriting decision for mortgage loan applications based on capacity, credit history, capital, and collateral.
• Apply underwriting rules from multiple sources to review loan applications and formulate approval conditions.
• Review loan files for documentation accuracy and completeness; assess appraisal.
• Educate loan officers and processors on underwriting rules and application of the rules.
• Perform computer-based functions for internal/external IT systems; conduct online research.
• Meet deadlines related to underwriting and closing processes; comply with policies and regulations.
