Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics is seeking an experienced Mold Maker to lead precision mold fabrication and maintenance in a Diamond Turning environment. You will diagnose complex tooling issues, design fixtures, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality to ensure molds meet stringent standards.

The role requires a strong background in manual machining, tooling design, and fabrication of mold components, with a path for development on optical molding methods and processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of Mold maker/Toolmaker experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of machine shop practices and precision tooling.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, modify, and maintain precision molds and tooling.
• Evaluate tooling performance, identify root causes, implement corrective actions.
• Fabricate fixtures, inserts, and tooling to exact specifications.
• Support mold changeovers, validations, and production startup.
