Job summary

Roche in Genentech Research and Early Development seeks a Senior/Principal Machine Learning Scientist to develop the next generation of ML models for perturbation biology and target/drug discovery.

You will design predictive algorithms, integrate molecular structures, omics, images and text, and collaborate with biologists, chemists, data scientists, and other stakeholders. The role emphasizes publication at top venues and leadership of high‑profile projects.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field or in physical/life sciences with strong quantitative focus.
• Strong publication record in relevant ML or bio venues.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
• Experience contributing to research communities (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, etc).

Responsibilities

• Design and apply predictive ML algorithms for perturbation screens for drug/target identification.
• Integrate data modalities: molecular structures, omics, images, and text.
• Collaborate with biologists, chemists, data scientists and stakeholders.
• Build and scale ML techniques for massive datasets and deployment of new algorithms.
• Publish results in top ML venues and scientific journals; present at venues and workshops.
