Job summary

Waymo is seeking an ML Infrastructure engineer to design, build, and optimize realistic simulation environments and business logic running on TPUs using JAX/TensorFlow. You will scale large models and implement data and model parallelism.

Collaborate with modeling teams, drive architectures from data engineering through simulation execution, and profile systems to remove bottlenecks across accelerators. This role demands strong communication across distributed teams and a track record of leading

Qualifications

6+ years of professional software engineering experience in ML infrastructure.
Direct ML programming experience on TPU/GPU using JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
Experience scaling large models with model or data parallelism.
Ability to lead ambiguous technical initiatives end-to-end and build robust tooling.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimize realistic simulation environments and business logic on TPUs using JAX/TensorFlow.
Implement and optimize large-scale model/data parallelism for foundation models.
Collaborate with modeling teams to integrate foundation models into simulation pipelines.
Drive architectures from data engineering through simulation execution to meet performance goals.
Profile systems and identify bottlenecks across ML accelerators to speed up execution.
