Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a highly technical Engineering Manager to lead the Applied Science team focused on modern recommendations. You will guide a portfolio balancing research breakthroughs with practical embeddings that benefit products company-wide.

You will partner with Core Engineering, Ads Engineering, Infrastructure, Content, and Data Science to prototype, build, and scale solutions addressing complex challenges and set the strategic direction for the system roadmap.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying state-of-the-art ML technologies to real-world problems on web-scale data.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience.
• Ability to mentor and up-skill software and ML engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap and strategic vision for Pinterest’s next-generation recommendation systems.
• Transition breakthrough ML research into production-ready systems affecting core metrics.
• Lead and develop a team of ML researchers and engineers in the Applied Science group.
• Collaborate with Core Eng, Ads Eng, Infra, Content, and Data Science to scale solutions.
