Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer – GUS to design and deliver scalable, production-grade ML solutions that drive data-driven decisions across the enterprise. You will build robust data pipelines, deploy ML/OR models, and ship reusable tools for data scientists to accelerate experimentation and delivery.

Cross-functional collaboration is key. Responsibilities include leading automated data analysis, overseeing model deployment, and mentoring the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
• 3+ years of Production ML, optimization, and scalable data tooling.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, ECR, Secrets Manager).
• Deploy production-grade ML using Python.
• Gurobi or similar solvers for optimization.
• Web apps integrated with ML and ERP systems.
• SQL, Snowflake, DuckDB for data querying.
• Kubernetes and Docker for containerization.
• Time series forecasting and clustering knowledge.
• GIT-based CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Astronomer or Airflow for orchestration.
• Databricks environment experience.
• PyTorch and scikit-learn familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead scalable, automated data analysis, model training, validation, and deployment.
• Collaborate with data scientists to implement ML/OR models aligned with business needs.
• Design and maintain ETL pipelines and automate data flow.
• Build internal tools and web apps to enable ML/ERP interactions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and align with goals.
• Ensure production-grade reliability andDevOps practices.
• Mentor team members on architecture and execution.
• Create architectural diagrams and documentation for scale.
