The Walt Disney Company, Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and productionize deep learning models for large-scale recommendation and ranking systems.

You will own model architecture decisions, training methodologies, offline evaluation, and online serving, collaborating with platform and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, performant ML solutions across ESPN’s digital products.

Qualifikationen

• Strong theoretical and applied knowledge of deep learning, optimization, and neural networks.
• Experience designing and launching deep learning models in production.
• Hands-on experience with recommendation, ranking, retrieval, search, or personalization models at scale.
• Expert proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or comparable DL frameworks, with Python skills.
• Experience improving inference performance and efficiency, latency and memory optimization.
• Experience with large-scale model training, distributed data processing, and evaluation.
• Ability to communicate complex modeling decisions clearly to cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master degree in Computer Science, ML, Data Science, or related field.

Aufgaben

• Lead design and implementation of deep learning models for retrieval, ranking, and personalization.
• Translate objectives into model formulations, loss functions, sampling strategies, and evaluations.
• Develop production-grade training and inference code with strong standards.
• Optimize models for online performance, latency, throughput, and cost.
• Own model productionization path from prototype to online serving.
• Design offline experiments and partner with teams to validate business impact.
• Diagnose model behavior, bias, cold start, and distribution shifts.
• Collaborate with MLOps, platform, data, and serving teams on interfaces and observability.
• Contribute to design reviews and mentor engineers in model development.
