Job summary

Databricks NYC is seeking a senior ML/AI personalization engineer to help build CustomerLake, the data-driven platform for enterprise personalization. You’ll evaluate models, push production-grade quality, and shape the framework for scalable ML/AI features.

Bring 10+ years of engineering experience, strong Python and PyTorch skills, and a product-minded mindset to translate customer problems into MVPs and rapid iterations on real data.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience shipping ML/AI products.
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating ML models and/or LLM systems for real product use cases.
• Experience with personalization based on customer behavior, transactions, or similar metrics.
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
• Familiarity with LLMs and generative AI techniques (RAG, prompt design, fine‑tuning).
• Demonstrated product mindset; able to translate ambiguous problems into MVPs and iterate quickly.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate ML and LLM approaches for CustomerLake personalization use cases and improve quality.
• Analyze production behavior of models; inspect traces and optimize from there.
• Build the platform and evaluation framework enabling customers to optimize for business value.
• Guide the team toward new directions and novel methods beyond existing solutions.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, and design to turn problems into scalable solutions.
• Define technical foundations for ML/AI personalization as we grow across roles.
