Job summary

Planet's Analytics Team for Global Monitoring seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead hands-on modeling for Defense and Intelligence applications using embeddings-based change detection and state-of-the-art computer vision on satellite data. You will ensure robust testing and deploy solutions at continental/global scales from our Arlington, VA office, working in a hybrid capacity.

You will collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to push geospatial analytics forward,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in relevant roles with 6+ years in ML
• Experience with time series, vision, and embeddings
• Strong Python coding and ML model deployment
• Experience with geospatial data and large datasets
• Experience deploying models with Docker/Kubernetes

Responsibilities

• Spearhead development of novel algorithms and ML models for Defense/Intelligence
• Optimize model performance for high-throughput inference at scale
• Innovate CV, time series, and embeddings techniques on satellite data
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers on requirements
• Integrate ML pipelines with software engineering platforms
• Establish testing, validation, and monitoring for model reliability
