Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build mapping algorithms and geospatial data systems for automated map reconstruction. You will own map primitives, ensure geometric/topological correctness, and integrate ML-assisted methods into production pipelines.

You will work across Perception, Localization, Simulation, and Platform teams to deliver end-to-end geospatial solutions, driving quality and scalability in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering building production systems in mapping/geospatial domains.
• Strong foundation in geospatial and computational geometry concepts such as coordinate systems and graph algorithms.
• Experience designing geospatial data models for road networks (lanes, segments, intersections, topology).
• Hands-on ML or computer vision workflow in production — data curation, training, deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mapping algorithms for map reconstruction and maintenance, including lane and boundary extraction.
• Build geospatial data models for lane-level connectivity and road network graphs.
• Develop large-scale distributed geospatial pipelines processing sensor data into production map releases.
• Apply ML/CV models to automate feature extraction and map change detection in production pipelines.
• Create automated quality, validation, and regression systems for geometry/topology/semantic map checks.
• Collaborate with Perception, Localization, Simulation, and Platform teams on interfaces and data contracts.
• Diagnose and resolve system-level issues across geospatial pipelines and production workflows.
