Job summary

Portcast is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own solutions end to end—from framing problems to deploying models in production. You will work closely with Data, Engineering, and Product to deliver ML features that drive visibility, forecasting, and freight optimization in a lean, remote-first team.

You will build real-time prediction models, leverage ML and LLMs, and ensure scalable, cost-aware deployments on cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters/PhD in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years building, deploying, and scaling ML models in production.
• Business-minded with focus on outcomes, cost, and impact.
• Lean startup experience with ownership across end-to-end ML lifecycle.
• Experience in logistics or supply chain tech is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in Python/SQL, cloud platforms, and containerization.

Responsibilities

• Own ML and AI solutions end to end: frame the problem, build the model, deploy, and run in production.
• Own products end to end; consider business outcomes, cost, and scale.
• Work with product and customer-facing teams to turn loosely defined problems into shipped features.
• Collaborate with Data, Engineering, and Product to align with business goals.
• Build, test, deploy, and monitor real-time prediction models and ML algorithms.
• Productionise LLM-based systems with prompts as engineering artifacts.
