Job summary

Vanguard is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to build robust ML engineering solutions supporting AI/ML model experimentation and deployment. The role focuses on scalable data pipelines, MLOps, and feature documentation, collaborating closely with data scientists to validate datasets and models.

Responsibilities include designing end-to-end ML pipelines, monitoring in production, and integrating data lineage, with a strong emphasis on cloud technologies and SageMaker.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s preferred.
• 8 years in data engineering or machine learning engineering.
• 3+ years building ETL pipelines with AWS.
• Proven MLOps experience for production AI/ML models.
• Proficient in Python and ML frameworks/libraries.
• Strong cloud knowledge and AWS SageMaker experience.
• Solid software engineering practices: design, test, security, version control.
• Familiarity with ML development lifecycle and end-to-end pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines for scalable ML workflows.
• Build and maintain robust MLOps pipelines for deployment and monitoring.
• Integrate data and model pipelines; diagnose data quality issues.
• Collaborate with data scientists to validate datasets and features.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis with business context for model development.
• Track data lineage and perform root-cause analysis during exploration.
• Translate business processes into scalable analytical solutions.
• Create and maintain model monitoring scripts and respond to alerts.
• Serve as ML engineering subject matter expert on cross-functional teams.
• Stay current with AI/ML advances and assess applicability.
