Job summary

Kostas Research Institute (KRI) at Northeastern University (NU) seeks an experienced R&D Engineer to advance ML/AI software across autonomous systems, sensing, and decision-support domains.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at KRI to prototype, test, and deploy solutions for government and industry contracts, leveraging PyTorch, HPC resources, and cloud-enabled pipelines. A strong emphasis on rigorous engineering and rapid prototyping is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, Applied Math, or closely related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with ML/AI systems development.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) with ML/AI focus preferred; security/defense R&D experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as a software engineer on ML/AI projects across autonomy, sensing, and decision support systems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to prototype, evaluate, and transition AI/ML solutions to deployable systems.
• Support government and industry contracts with rigorous software engineering practices and reproducible workflows.
