Job summary

Watterson Environmental & Facilities Management is seeking a Senior Mitigation Technician in Maryland to lead large-scale mitigation/remediation projects. You will assess damage, supervise laborers, and coordinate drying, containment, and cleanup activities while ensuring safety and customer service standards.

You will perform water and fire/mold restoration tasks, document progress with photos and notes, and communicate clearly with clients.

Qualifications

  • Requires 2+ IICRC Restoration Certifications and 3+ years as a Restoration Technician.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing without restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large mitigation/remediation projects $100k+.
  • Perform water mitigation, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition.
  • Assess damaged areas and determine the scope of work.
  • Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment including air movers and dehumidifiers.
  • Document progress with photos, moisture readings, sketches, and notes.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project status and expectations.
  • Follow PPE and safety procedures; operate equipment safely.
  • Drive company vehicles and maintain vehicles and tools.
  • Assist with containment setup and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Load/unload/transport equipment and materials between sites.
  • Participate in training and safety meetings.

Description

Position Summary

The responsibilities of the Senior Mitigation Technician include assessing damaged properties to see what can be saved, cleaning damaged properties, removing, and replacing damaged materials, and sanitizing the restored sites. To be successful as a senior mitigation technician, the employee must be physically capable, have a keen understanding of safety gear, and be able to follow instructions. They also need to have the ability to supervise laborers on large mitigation/ remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Able to run large mitigation/ remediation projects that are $100k+.
  • Perform water mitigation, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition services in accordance with company procedures and IICRC industry standards under the direction of the Mitigation Manager.
  • Assess damaged areas and assist in determining the scope of work, including identifying salvageable and non-salvageable materials.
  • Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and moisture monitoring devices.
  • Perform extraction, debris removal, demolition, cleaning, sanitizing, and contents handling activities as required to stabilize and restore properties.
  • Document job progress through photos, moisture readings, sketches, and daily job notes using company-approved systems and software.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project status, job expectations, and daily activities while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication, and safe equipment operation practices.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles, trailers, and restoration equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Reachable by phone during waiting to be engaged periods, but otherwise free to use your time for personal activities unless contacted to report for duty.
  • Assist with containment setup, negative air systems, and site protection measures to prevent cross-contamination during mitigation activities.
  • Load, unload, inventory, and transport equipment, materials, and contents between job sites, warehouses, and storage facilities.
  • Support warehouse organization, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep as needed.
  • Participate in required training, certification programs, safety meetings, and continuing education activities.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, subcontractors, and other departments to ensure projects are completed efficiently and according to quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business operations and customer needs.
