Shield AI is seeking a staff engineer for mission systems to lead end-to-end engineering of next-gen unmanned aircraft payloads, avionics, and weapons, ensuring robust, certifiable designs.

You will drive architectures, oversee integration from concept to flight test, and coordinate with customers and partners while meeting safety and airworthiness standards.

A BS in Aerospace/EE, 8+ years in defense, and active clearance are required; MS/PhD preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in aerospace/defense with at least 5 years in mission systems integration.
• Experience with aircraft payloads, avionics, and weapons integration.
• Familiarity with MOSA/open mission systems standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead system architecture and requirements development for payloads, avionics, and weapons integration.
• Drive trade studies and system-of-systems analyses.
• Oversee integration and test campaigns from bench to flight test.
• Ensure compliance with DO-178C/DO-254 and related standards.
