Are you looking for exciting opportunities to lead efforts to model, analyze, and develop state of the art concepts in integrated and layered missile defense involving kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities? We are seeking a senior engineer (or equivalent background) to help us lead teams to model, analyze, and develop next generation solutions to our nation’s most challenging missile defense problems.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams and write and use MATLAB to develop and analyze Missile Defense systems.
- Model, analyze, and lead performance assessments of fielded and conceptual systems, finding opportunities for improvement and developing innovative concepts/algorithms.
- Develop presentations to effectively communicate technical recommendations to APL leadership, government sponsors, and the engineering community.
- Contribute to a dynamic group culture, upholding core values through participation in collaborative teams, continual improvement, innovation, risk-taking, and developing high quality products.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or an equivalent degree.
- Have at least 5+ years of professional engineering experience with a Department of Defense focus.
- Have proven experience leading complex, multi‑disciplinary analyses.
- Proficient in MATLAB, including Object Oriented capabilities, for modeling, simulation, analysis, and visualization.
- Proficient in using version control software to develop MATLAB simulations in a team environment.
- Excel in a multi‑disciplinary team environment.
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
- Have or be able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you
- Have specific domain knowledge of Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Space Force, Navy, and Army sensors, battle management systems, and kinetic and non‑kinetic defeat capabilities.
- Proficient in developing event‑driven MATLAB simulations.
- Hold a Top Secret or higher clearance.

$100,000 Annually
Maximum Rate
$245,000 Annually
