Job summary

SGS seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine planning, design, and optimization from concept through production. You will manage technical studies (PEA, PFS, FS), schedules, and ventilation while mentoring teams and coordinating with multidisciplinary specialists.

The role requires at least 15 years of mining experience, strong leadership, and travel to client sites internationally. Proficiency with mining software and risk/financial evaluation is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of technical experience within the mining industry.
• More than 10 years of experience in project evaluation, budgeting, and cost estimation from project initiation through completion.
• Demonstrated leadership and management experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely.

Responsibilities

• Lead mine planning, design, and optimization activities from concept through production.
• Manage technical studies (PEA, PFS, FS), production schedules, ventilation, and operational improvements.
• Provide mentorship and oversee contractors while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings; act as a Qualified Person where applicable.
• Establish and strengthen client relationships and participate in business development.
• Travel to client sites within Canada and internationally for short-term assignments.
