Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mining Consultant to join the mining team in West or Southwest offices, with primary locations in North Salt Lake UT and Phoenix AZ. This role requires extensive mining engineering experience and leadership across complex projects.

You will guide technical solutions, review proposals, and mentor junior staff while upholding industry standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• 20+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong operational background in mining preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for large projects of high complexity.
• Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mining systems.
• Lead project meetings with clients, owners, and vendors.
• Support cost estimation and value analysis on projects.
• Contribute to constructability reviews and QA/QC.
• Mentor and develop mining team members.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Consultant to join the mining team in any of our West or South West office locations.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for large projects of high complexity.
• Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all mining engineered systems.
• Participates in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Participates in constructability review.
• Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
• Leads and provides guidance in the development of new standards and specifications for the mining group.
• Review project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
• Reviews proposals for mining projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Strong knowledge of industry standards.
• Technical knowledge in multiple underground and surface mining methods.
• Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of projects.
• Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
• Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Expertise in mine health and safety regulations.
• Strong presentation and interview skills.
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Assists in business development of current and new clients
• Assists in the evaluation and hiring of new team members.
• Willing to mentor and teach your expertise to our mining team.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• 20+ years of relevant experience.
• Preferably with a strong operational background in career.
