Job summary

Portescap, part of Regal Rexnord, is seeking a Motor Design Engineer with a background in electric machine design to join our R&D team. The role focuses on designing small DC brushless motors, developing custom electromagnetic designs, and providing sustains engineering support for customers and manufacturing.

The candidate will work globally with our R&D teams in India and Switzerland, travel up to 5%, and contribute to technology breakthroughs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• US citizen required.
• 5+ years in design and manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of experience in electric machine design.
• Experience with DC or AC motors including control, testing, specifications and applications.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and readily use component data sheets.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical test equipment such as signal generators, DVM, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, tension/torsion testers, thermal chambers and vibration monitoring.
• Experience with Magtrol motor test equipment or similar dynamometer systems (preferred).
• Experience working directly with customers or external OEMs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design and development of new and advanced miniature motor drive systems from concept to production in a cross functional engineering environment.
• Work with customers to create technical proposals for new product applications.
• Support manufacturing staff with troubleshooting and provide feedback on quality related topics.
• Work closely with Customers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or the Commercial Team to gather design inputs from various sources and translate input into engineering requirements.
• Develop and integrate innovative technologies that extend the performance and capabilities of our product portfolio.
• Support internal and external customer product engineering requests.
