Job summary

Ascentt is building cutting-edge data analytics & AI/ML solutions for the automotive industry, seeking a Powertrain Engineer to join the propulsion systems team in Ann Arbor. You will design, calibrate, and validate advanced propulsion architectures spanning HEV, BEV, and ICE, blending hardware and controls with production ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 3–7 years powertrain/propulsion experience for mid-level; 8+ years for senior.
• Hands-on experience with hybrid, BEV, or ICE propulsion systems.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and data analysis.
• Experience with test planning, dyno, HIL, or vehicle-level testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate powertrain systems and subsystems across HEV/PHEV, BEV, and ICE applications.
• Define system-level requirements and interfaces, cascading to component specs.
• Support development of transmission, driveline, thermal management, torque, and energy strategies.
• Plan and execute dyno, HIL, bench, and in-vehicle testing; analyze data and resolve root causes.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, battery, vehicle integration, safety, and manufacturing teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship for senior engineers (if applicable).
