Job summary

Fieldstone Bio is seeking a highly motivated Microbiologist in Woburn, MA to test engineered microbial-based biosensors. You will independently develop assays to assess function across model and non-model microorganisms in collaboration with the Synthetic Biology and AI Data teams.

The role offers hands-on lab work, opportunities to influence research strategies at an early-stage biotech company, and a fast-paced, collaborative environment in environmental monitoring applications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• 1+ years’ experience with assessment of engineered microorganisms; industry experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with engineered microorganisms; non-model and soil-associated microbes preferred.
• Experience with microbial characterization.
• Assay development for microorganisms in non-model environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; outside-the-box thinking.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Versatile and flexible scientist in a fast-paced, collaborative lab.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute cell-based assays to screen for the function of engineered microbial strains.
• Lead development and innovation of novel strategies for assessing microbial function in non-traditional environments.
• Collaborate with Synthetic Biology Team to assess lead engineered candidates in application-relevant conditions.
• Ensure timely delivery of goals for set milestones.
• Document processes, results, and entity registration in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) system.
