Job summary

Vulcan Elements seeks a Machinist to operate, maintain, and test a range of machining equipment at its facility, starting at Johnston Community College in Four Oaks, NC and moving to Benson, NC after new plant readiness.

You will work with CAD/CAM software, read drawings, apply G and M code, perform first article inspections, and help establish SOPs while collaborating with engineers.

The role emphasizes safety, clean work environment, and readiness to adapt to evolving production needs.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD and CAM software
• Familiarity with G and M code
• Familiarity with analog and digital inspection and measurement tools
• Read and generate technical drawings
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and test a variety of machining equipment (wire EDM, grinders, mills, lathes, wire saws, lasers)
• Process test samples and parts to internal and external specifications
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment
• Create, document, and refine processing parameters for various materials
• Perform first article and test inspections on processed parts
• Design and implement custom workholding solutions
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to establish scheduling and processing plans
• Maintain spare parts and consumables inventory
• Establish SOPs for workholding and equipment operation
