LAEPPLE Automotive US in Detroit seeks a skilled Metal Finish Technician to perform advanced metal finishing and precision repairs on steel and aluminum body panels. You will ensure repairs meet customer quality requirements and avoid using body filler.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in auto body repair, experience with ERP (SAP preferred) and MS Office, and can mentor trainees while collaborating with production and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in auto body metal repair and finishing.
• 5-10 years in a Tier I automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair damaged auto body parts to meet standards.
• Perform advanced metal straightening, dent removal, reshaping, sanding/polishing on steel and aluminum panels.
• Repair damage using hammer-and-dolly techniques, shrinking methods, and welding as needed.
• Achieve finished panels with no body filler prior to refinishing.
• Mentor trainees and collaborate with production and quality teams.
• Document inspection results and repairs; maintain a safe, organized workspace.
