Job summary

Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group is seeking an experienced electrical designer to join a multi-discipline engineering team. You will develop electrical equipment layouts, cable trays and conduits, and produce 3D model‑based deliverables using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, and Navisworks.

The role requires leading the electrical design efforts, resolving clashes in the 3D model, mentoring junior drafters, and coordinating with other disciplines to deliver complete designs on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of detailed design experience in electrical plant design drawings (raceway, supports, equipment, grounding, lighting, cable management).
  • Proficiency with 3D plant layout tools and 2D/3D deliverables development.
  • Experience reviewing project deliverables and vendor drawings; interfacing with multi‑discipline teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical equipment layouts, cable tray and conduit raceways in 3D models.
  • Generate deliverables, BOMs and catalogs using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks.
  • Lead electrical design coordination, resolve 3D clashes, and mentor junior drafters.
  • Coordinate with IT and design teams to ensure templates and catalogs align with requirements.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Electrical Project Lead, this position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing electrical equipment, cable tray & conduit raceway, support detail installation drawings in a 3‑D model.
  • Utilize Autodesk’s AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit modeling software to generate electrical design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists.
  • Understand and interpret electrical functional requirements developed using AutoCAD and tool sets and create physical design consistent with engineering requirements.
  • Perform and manage cable routing activities utilizing cable information developed.
  • Act as the electrical design team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated electrical design model.
  • Resolve clashes and discrepancies in the 3‑D model and report status.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Independently plan and execute design of electrical deliverables.
  • Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced drafters and designers.

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in‑office work 3 days per week.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experienced and proficient with AutoCAD Plant 3D software and other tool sets including AutoCAD Electrical and Map 3D. Experienced and proficient with Navisworks Manage and Revit software including the following:
    • Understanding of the integration aspects of electrical functional diagrams with 3‑D model development
    • Class detection resolution & discrepancy checks between deliverables
    • Reports/Schedules and Cable Management activities
    • Interface with IT Administrators in the development of electrical deliverable templates and catalogs
    • Drawing Presentation Rules Set Up
    • Plant 3‑D and Revit model data management
  • 10 or more years of detailed design experience in the development of electrical plant design drawings; raceway & supports, equipment, grounding, lighting, cable management.
  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3‑D plant layout models.
  • Experience in the review of project deliverables and drawing requirements.
  • Experience in the review of vendor drawings and interface points.
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the plant design process.
