Job summary

Holder Construction seeks an experienced MEP Preconstruction Coordinator for our Charlotte, NC office. This in-person role leads MEP preconstruction activities, including estimating, design management, and subcontractor/vendor procurement.

You will coordinate engineers and vendors, prepare comparative analyses of estimates, and present complete scopes of work. Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 7+ years of preconstruction experience for MEP systems.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, HVAC, plumbing, architectural and civil plans.
• Familiarity with MEP concepts and equipment.
• Experience leading a team of MEP engineers or estimators.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Ability to collaborate and adapt to change professionally.
• Excellent organizational and meeting-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP preconstruction activities including estimating and procurement.
• Coordinate design management and subcontractor/vendor engagement.
• Communicate with vendors, engineers, clients and project stakeholders.
• Prepare analyses of estimates and explain variances to stakeholders.
• Develop complete scopes of work for MEP systems with teams.
• Evaluate bid proposals considering risk and project challenges.
• Mentor preconstruction engineers in technical and non-technical areas.
• Lead responses to RFPs and represent Holder at meetings.
