Job Description

The Senior Medical Writer plays a fundamental role in the content development process and partners with the Account Services, Creative Services, Editorial Services, and Project Management departments and clients on the writing and execution of medical and promotional communications tactics and activities for healthcare professional (HCP) audiences. This individual demonstrates a command of relevant therapeutic areas and assigned products, supporting the strategic and creative direction of all deliverables while ensuring a high degree of medical accuracy.

Job Duties
Medical Services
  • Demonstrate a strategic and scientific command of assigned therapeutic areas and products
  • Write original content for medical and promotional communications tactics and activities, including content for disease state symposia, advisory boards, speaker training programs, sales training materials, webcasts, satellite symposia, videos, websites, and other multimedia initiatives
    • Effectively communicate complex medical and scientific concepts in a clear, engaging, audience‑appropriate manner
    • Work closely with Creative Services personnel on creative elements of content (eg, imagery, iconography, charts/graphs, video footage)
  • Perform literature searches to assess and summarize updates to assigned therapeutic area or provide baseline information for upcoming work in new therapeutic areas
  • Liaise with Editorial Services, Account Services, Creative Services, and Project Management departments as necessary for guidance
  • Provide guidance, support, and feedback to freelance contract writers as needed during the content development process
  • Evaluate, collate, and incorporate comments from internal team members and clients
  • Annotate materials for quality assurance and preparation for client medical/regulatory review
  • Attend client review committee meetings, defend content as needed, and apply resulting comments while maintaining the integrity and purpose of the material
  • Attend advisory boards, roundtables, teleconference interviews, etc, to record and summarize meeting output in a formal report
Process
  • Follow all internal processes and procedures with regard to workflow, development of deliverables, and adherence to industry best practices
  • Demonstrate the flexibility/adaptability necessary to function on different therapeutic teams as needed
  • Maintain a proactive approach on initiatives for existing and prospective clients
  • Work in conjunction with Account Services and Project Management departments to develop and adhere to logical and attainable timelines for project completion
  • Attend team meetings to provide input and aid in troubleshooting/problem‑solving
  • Keep core teams informed of status of ongoing projects
  • Perform other duties as requested
