Job summary

Siemens Healthineers in Wakefield, RI, seeks a Medical Physics expert to lead high-quality radiation therapy delivery, provide staff with education, and oversee safety practices. The role involves treatment planning, dosimetry, and collaboration across departments to maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance.

Required: MS/PhD in Medical Physics, CAMPEP residency, 3+ years clinical experience, ABR certification or eligibility within 3 years.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Medical Physics required or closely related field.
• Minimum of 3+ years clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP-accredited residency.
• ABR Part I and possibly Part II exams preferred.
• Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by ABR or equivalent.
• Non-certified candidates must become board-certified within 3 years of hire.
• State licensing/registration as required for clinical site.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate dose meters and accelerator beam data for treatment planning.
• Prepare data for treatment planning systems and develop dosimetry software.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State and organizational radiation safety regulations.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and standards of practice.
• Assist in acceptance testing and re-commissioning of new machines.
• Perform treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and planning reviews.
• Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology staff and clinicians.
• Verify department treatment planning system routinely.
• Collaborate with IT for planning system software management.
• Assist with shielding calculations for new facilities and programs.
• Interpret regulatory changes and summarize for department operations.
• Provide dosimetry checks following source changes.
• Assist with selection/acquisition of radioactive sources.
