Job summary

Siemens Healthineers in Palm Springs, CA, seeks a senior medical physicist to join a high-caliber team delivering advanced patient care in radiation oncology. You will contribute to treatment planning, dosimetry, and dosimetry software development, working with HDR and SRS programs.

The role requires 5+ years of clinical medical physics experience beyond a CAMPEP residency, MS/PhD in Medical Physics, and ABR certification or eligibility within 3 years. Relocation to Palm Springs is expected.

Qualifications

• Located or willing to relocate to Palm Springs, CA.
• MS or PhD in Medical Physics, or closely related field, required.
• Minimum of 5+ years clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP-accredited residency.
• Candidates who have passed the Part-I and Part-II ABR Exams preferred
• Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the ABR or eligible within 3 years of hire.
• Must maintain state licensing/registration as required for Medical Physics at the clinical site.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate dose meters and calibration of accelerator MU; beam data acquisition for treatment planning.
• Prepare data for treatment planning systems; develop/deliver dosimetry software and protocols.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State and organizational radiation safety regs.
• Participate in performance improvement activities, policies and procedures ensuring regulatory standards.
• Assist in acceptance testing, commissioning of new machines and re-commissioning after maintenance.
• Perform treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics reviews.
• Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology staff on patient care and treatment aspects.
• Ensure routine verification of the treatment planning system and collaborate with IT for planning system management.
• Assist in planning/shielding calculations for new facilities and programs.
• Interpret regulatory changes and integrate into department operations.
• Assist with source selection/acquisition for permanent implant techniques.
• Contribute to clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for physics staff.
