Job summary

VitaminMD is seeking a Senior Medical Director to provide strategic and scientific direction across a portfolio of brands. The role leads medical strategy, mentors junior staff, and ensures scientific integrity in all communications.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent clinical degree.
• 7+ years in medical advertising, communications or education with leadership.
• Strong knowledge of clinical research principles and databases (PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov).
• Publication writing experience across manuscripts, reviews, abstracts and posters.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and strategic leadership across accounts and brands.
• Drive the development of medical strategies with Brand Strategy and Engagement teams.
• Oversee clinical relevance and ensure scientific accuracy of deliverables.
• Act as the medical lead for clients, building trust through expertise and communication.

Job Summary

The Senior Medical Director is a core member of the medical team at VitaminMD, responsible for providing strategic and scientific direction across a portfolio of brands. This individual will oversee medical strategy, support business growth initiatives, and guide the team in delivering scientifically accurate and strategically aligned communications. The Senior Medical Director acts as a thought leader, building deep expertise in therapeutic areas, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the highest standards of scientific integrity in all work.

This role also requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and fostering strong client relationships, aligning with Calcium+Company’s core values of commitment, integrity, and respect.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and strategic leadership across multiple accounts, aligning with brand goals and client objectives
• Drive the development of medical strategies and contribute to the overall brand planning process in collaboration with Brand Strategy and Engagement teams
• Oversee and validate the clinical and medical relevance of deliverables to ensure they are scientifically accurate and impactful
• Serve as a key medical point of contact for clients, fostering trust and credibility through expertise and communication
• Present educational and strategic content during client and new business presentations to diverse audiences
• Support new business initiatives by contributing to pitch preparation and client proposals
• Mentor and guide junior medical team members, including Scientific Associates and Associate Medical Directors, to foster professional growth
• Ensure the quality and timeliness of work delivered by the team, adhering to agency and client standards
• Onboard new team members to brand-specific knowledge and agency processes
• Perform in-depth research to build a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic areas, including safety data, mechanisms of action, and treatment paradigms
• Contribute to the development of educational materials and ensure alignment with client strategies
• Stay updated on emerging clinical data, industry trends, and guidelines to inform team strategiesCollaborate with internal departments, including Account, Strategy, Project Management, and Creative, to integrate medical insights into deliverables
• Partner with external stakeholders to enhance the relevance and value of the agency’s scientific offerings
• Identify opportunities to innovate and improve processes within the medical department

Job Qualifications

• MD, PharmD, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline preferred
• 7+ years of experience in medical advertising, communications, or education, including leadership roles
• Strong working knowledge of clinical research principles and familiarity with platforms like PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov
• Experience in publication writing, including primary manuscripts, reviews, abstracts and poster development, as well as publication planning
• Proven ability to interpret clinical data and provide strategic insights to multidisciplinary teams
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Keynote, and research databases
• Demonstrated success in managing teams and delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
