Job summary

GrayMatter Robotics is seeking a Staff Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced robotic systems for manufacturing automation. This senior role requires ownership of system architecture, mentorship of engineers, and hands-on work across electrical, mechanical, and controls domains.

You will work with PLCs, sensors, actuators, and power electronics, applying embedded C/C++ and Python to deliver robust, field-ready solutions and drive continuous product

Qualifications

• 12+ years in mechatronics, robotics, or automation.
• Experience leading system-level designs through deployment.
• Deep understanding of electromechanical systems and controls integration.
• Hands-on debugging with lab instruments and PLC-based automation hardware.
• Ability to mentor engineers and work cross-functionally.
• Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level design and architecture of robotic solutions.
• Own complex mechatronic subsystems across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains.
• Serve as a technical authority on robotic cell design and performance.
• Drive requirements, trade studies, and design reviews.
• Partner with software, controls, manufacturing, and field teams to deliver robust systems.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and guide technical quality.
